Long time ago, there lived a beautiful girl Morufe. Her beauty was like a glowing moon. For many years she made clothes from a sewing machine she inherited from her mother, Mmakubutu. Morufe’s suitor, Nape was a shepherd from a far away village called phokoane.
Every night under the bright african stars, Morufe wrote love letters in honour of their undying love. Unfortunately Nape could not read nor write, so her letters were never replied to.
Morufe decided to make a t-shirt for him and asked the bicycle postman to handle it with care.
On receiving the t-shirt from the bicycle postman, Nape screamed in excitement, “awo!!! Lerato laka” (translating, my love).
You too can embrace your rural love by wearing Rural Love clothing with pride.
